Care Guide
Preserving Your Pieces
A well-made garment, properly cared for, should last decades. These are not disposable purchases. They are investments. The following guidance will help your Averro pieces age the way great things do — with character.
Wool & Tailoring
- Dry clean only for structured pieces
- Hang on a wide, shaped hanger after wearing
- Allow 24 hours between wears to let fibres recover
- Brush with a soft clothes brush to remove surface dust
- Store in a breathable garment bag
Dress Shirts
- Machine wash at 30°C on a gentle cycle
- Use a mild detergent without bleach
- Remove promptly and hang to dry
- Iron on medium heat while slightly damp
- Start with the collar, then cuffs, then body
Knitwear
- Hand wash in cool water with wool wash
- Do not wring — press gently to remove water
- Dry flat on a clean towel, reshaped
- Fold rather than hang to prevent stretching
- Use a cashmere comb for pilling
Outerwear
- Dry clean at the end of each season
- Hang on a sturdy coat hanger at all times
- Shake out after wearing in rain, allow to dry naturally
- Never compress in storage
- Cedar blocks will protect against moths
“A suit worn and cared for properly for twenty years will look far better than one replaced every two. That is not a philosophy — it is a fact of cloth.”
— James Averro
